Sari’s Journey: How Head Start Transformed my Family’s Path

Discovering Head Start

I was introduced to Head Start through a referral from social services during a tumultuous period. Fresh from a difficult divorce and having just received custody of my children, I was determined to provide them with the best opportunities. At the time, my daughter was 3 and son was 2. I needed a reliable program that could meet their developmental needs while fitting into my busy schedule as a newly single working parent.

Head Start stepped in, offering part-day services with transportation to and from the babysitter’s home. For me, this arrangement was invaluable, allowing me to focus on rebuilding my life while ensuring my children were cared for and engaged in a nurturing educational environment.
