1. Fiscal Year 2025 Monitoring Process for Head Start RecipientsThe Office of Head Start (OHS) has released its Fiscal Year 2025 Monitoring Process guidelines. Key highlights include:
FA1 Reviews: Virtual reviews starting December 2024.
FA2 Reviews: On-site monitoring starting December 2024.
CLASS® Reviews: Options for self-recorded video submissions or on-site evaluations starting October 2024.
Risk Assessment Notification (RAN): Conducted virtually as needed.
Unannounced Reviews: May occur at any time.
This update outlines OHS monitoring reviews to ensure compliance with federal standards and to support program success.

2. Reporting Child Health and Safety Incidents
OHS has clarified reporting requirements for significant child health and safety incidents under the updated Performance Standards (effective August 2024). Programs are required to:
Report incidents no later than seven calendar days after they occur.
Submit reports for events involving staff, volunteers, or participants in Head Start-funded settings.
This update helps Head Start programs maintain safe and supportive environments for children.
